Communication officer - Assistant
The position will initially be split between social media communications and management, Council administrative tasks, and assisting the Executive Director (ED) with preparation of the International Grains Council (IGC) and Food Assistance Convention (FAC) formal meetings, as well as the annual IGC Grains Conference. From 2027, the role will grow to encompass more website design and management responsibilities.
Job Description:
Council administrative tasks
- Organisation of meetings annually:
- two Council Sessions
- two Administrative Committee meetings
- two Market Condition Committee (MCC) meetings;
- Operational support to the ED: Drafting reports, entering data, creating dashboards;
- Responsible for maintaining the archives of IGC and FAC;
- Manage the mailing list and database of the IGC and FAC members;
- Contact person of the Secretariat for the IGC and FAC.
Media communication and management
- Organisation of two FAC sessions
- Generate content and manage the IGC LinkedIn and X profiles;
- Marketing the IGC Grains Conferences and remote meetings;
- Generate content and design of webpages in coordination with the IT manager;
- Engage with stakeholders to promote new subscriptions.
Job Specific Qualifications
The following benchmarks will be used to evaluate and recommend the successful candidate:
- Candidates will be a citizen of a member country of the International Grains Council*;
- 2 - 3 years progressive experience and responsibility in external communications, social media management and promotion of in-person and online events;
- English is the official language of the IGC's Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English is required in speaking and writing. Knowledge of another working language of IGC (French, Russian, Spanish) is desirable;
- IT Skills: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint);
- Good Knowledge of LinkedIn and X platforms and content management tools such as Buffer or Hubspot. Previous experience of preparing marketing emails, website design - HTML & CSS; prior knowledge of c#.net is beneficial;
- Skills: Excellent writing, organisation, diligence and interpersonal skills.
Compensation: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
