Meeting of the International Grains Council

Members of the International Grains Council (IGC) convened for the 63rd Council Session on 21 January 2026 in London. The meeting was chaired by Dr Amy Little, Counsellor (Agriculture), Australian High Commission to the United Kingdom. In conjunction with the 63rd Session, IGC and Australia coorganised a Grains Forum titled Aligning Rules and Innovation: Navigating Regulatory Barriers and Gene-Editing in Global Grain Trade, held on Tuesday 20th January 2026.

Grain Market Report (GMR572)

Total grains (wheat and coarse grains) output is rising faster than forecast previously. Including upgraded outlooks for maize (mainly the US, China), wheat (Argentina, Canada) and barley (Canada, Australia), the world production estimate is up by 31m t compared to late-November, at a record 2,461m.

Following on from Algeria’s Chairmanship, the IGC has appointed Dr. Amy Little, Counsellor for Agriculture, High Commission of Australia to the UK, as Chairperson for 2025/26.
